Which roller shutter should you choose?
We advise you during the visit based on the window, which way it faces and what you expect from the shutter. These are the most common options in Barcelona homes:
Aluminium
Strong and durable. With insulating filling, it helps protect your home from the heat in summer and the cold in winter.
PVC
Light and affordable. A good option for small windows and shutters that are raised and lowered by hand.
Reinforced security
Thicker slats and systems that make it harder to lift from outside. Designed for ground floors and top-floor flats.

The owners' association and the façade
Roller shutters are part of the building's façade. If you're going to change the colour, material or type of shutter, it's best to check with the owners' association (comunidad de propietarios) first: many buildings require a uniform appearance.
Protected buildings, common in Eixample and Ciutat Vella, may have additional requirements. We help you choose an option that suits the building and know what to ask.

Is building work needed to replace a shutter?
